It’s definitely going to take time but you can do it with consistent training. Start with sitting on the ground and giving treats but never actively going to pet them and let them slowly get closer. I saw a really good video on this recently that I’ll try to find for you

It is what it is! We have a rescue with Maltese. Just be patient and when people come over put the dog in the crate and introduce slowly.

I have 4 Maltese they were originally bred for companion pets. They love their person. Definitely trainable but very owner loyal.

My Ellie will bite anyone that comes near me if I'm holding her - so I usually place her on the floor when others are trying to get to know her .
