Depends hugely on whether the ruby is natural. I had the same experience with an heirloom and it turns out lab grown rubies have been made since 1800s

Rubies are UV reactive. A black light can help “make sure” that the rubies are real

14kt gold is actually pretty durable. If it’s soft it’s most likely 18kt or higher.

The coloring on the large one is really off I would take it to a jeweler, the place I work at tests it for free takes about 1 min
