Family from Southern VA. Lima's we're always greenish- sm or med. BB's were the larger beige-ish, creamy colored ones.

We called the fresh ones, butter beans and the dried, regardless of size were called Lima’s. Works for us!

Lima beans are white or green, depends on the kind. Butter beans vary but usually in the south are brown speckled Butterbeans.
