@iamjuliemango: Using my own song to Minister to myself Today For those who don’t know, I my official diagnosis is Borderline Personality Disorder. Treatable, and livable. I am a mental health advocate and I speak openly about it in order to help mash dung the stigma associated with mental illnesses, so that others are not afraid to get help. I remember my first attempt via car crash in November 2011 (I attempted 3 times). It was a 2008 grey Toyota Corolla. The car was written off, yet I came out of the car scratch free with just a broken pair of glasses. I remember while the car was flipping on its side and top, I said to myself “I change my mind”. But the vehicle was already out of my control. So I folded my arms to my chest after I took of my glasses and I closed my eyes and decided it was too late and this is it. When I exited the vehicle, onlookers, in true Jamaican fashion, lamented how skillful I was to steer the car skating on its side and top, away from the oncoming truck. Dem say how I wheelie the car on two tires and do a 360 pon de car side bout 3 time and lan it back pon all fours. Only……I wasn’t doing that….. Did someone say Elohim?.. Toyota Jamaica sent a wrecker for the vehicle, carried it to Kingston, and sold the wreckage to this married couple. Insurance did their thing and covered the “accident”. But hear this: Mental Health is a spectrum, and we are all on it. Some of us are on the more difficult side, and some of us are on the better side. If you have a mental health issue, doan be ashamed. First step is to talk to someone. MEN I AM TALKING TO YOU AS WELL. Also you don’t have to wait till you are having a conniption to reach out to a friend. Talk to your friends on a daily basis and have them talk to you to. This “check up on a friend” is a regular thing. I love you guys. But pon a serious, this thing called life is a journey. There’s no destination. Not even death is final. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed but only transformed from one form to another. I love you guys.
