Gaining some fat along with muscle during a bulk is totally normal, and you shouldn't be afraid of not looking super fit because of it. People who don’t understand this just lack the knowledge, it's that simple. So don't be scared of your "in-between" physique. If it really bothers you, you can always maintain your calories, but if your main goal is to build a lot of muscle and you're okay with gaining some fat, knowing you'll cut it later then go for it. Just don’t be shocked to gain a bit of fat because it’s part of the process. How much fat you gain depends on how "clean" your bulk is. Of course, you should still eat nutritious food, but even then, a little fat will come with the muscle. You can’t gain 100% muscle and no fat—it’s about trying to get close, but after months of bulking, some fat is expected. You’ll get rid of it during the cutting phase, and that's totally normal, something everyone has been doing for ages. So if someone points out that you're gaining fat in areas that society doesn't find flattering, just remember they just don’t get it. And if it really bothers you personally, because it’s your body that matters, not their opinions then simply maintain your calories.
