We had to staple wire mesh over every vent opening and cover the downspouts with it. No squirrels this year so far!

Cut trees 6ft or more away from house, put gutter vents on downspouts.

They also love to eat/chew the lead covers on the pipes on your roof. Also, check your chimney if you have one.

Classic rodent damage. Flashing helps! If it’s bad enough, you can easily replace the fascia boards too, then flash it.

They cannot get their metal but they do have a bite force of 7000 psi so they can be problems for other parts of your house that are exposed
