@theblondemuslim: I’ve worried for a long time about what’s going to happen to me when I die because I’m the only Muslim in my family. At the end of the day, how does a non-Muslim family go about giving a Muslim burial? Islamic death procedures are so dramatically different from what’s normal in the west. I was overjoyed when I was connected with @hani.amra because he’s a lawyer & estate planner who not only is a Muslim himself but also specializes in Islamic wills. The whole process was such a breeze— I basically filled out a form about myself, my family, my assets and my requests— and he helped me get a legal plan in place that will honor & protect my wishes in the event of my incapacitation or death. I have an executor for my estate, a medical plan, Islamic will, and a trust. I honestly feel so relieved knowing my affairs will be settled more easily so that it will not be as much of an issue for my family, and most importantly I am so so so so trilled to know that my body will be given an Islamic burial iA. I really didn’t expect to be so emotional but honestly i am so relieved & so happy because these were really big worries in my mind as a new Muslim in a non-Muslim country. I highly recommend everyone to think about these things and to check out @hani.amra to help you with the process.
