Az y :
What I have seen, is the typically naughty kids get rewarded when they show a moment of good character but the kids who always make good choices don’t

PBIS is a free from consequence system, especially when you have admin that doesn’t support consequences.

PBIS coach here. The only good thing about it, and I mean ONLY good thing, is it creates a common school-wide expectations and language.

What gets me is that our district doesn’t fund the PBIS program. The teacher in charge of ours has to ask the community for donations to afford prizes

unfortunately, I think a lot of administrations implemented in a way that means free of consequence and that is why teachers struggle with it

Pbis isn’t bad. Everyone is picking and choosing what pieces they want to use of it and not the true concept

Also, if there are physical rewards like candy, gift cards, etc., I have never seen the school supply them— always the teacher

I’m not sure about elementary, but it’s really silly and pointless in middle and high school! They care about gift cards to $5 Below!

PBIS excludes the kids who always do the right damn thing. The bad kids get all the praise and rewards. Same with Class Dojo. Nonsense

The same can be said of restorative Justice. People forget the “restore” part, and think the circle is the goal. No, they have to repair the harm.

That's the key.. admin needs to do their part for it to work, but sadly I haven't seen that happen in my school

As a music teacher, I hate pbis. I have 400 students. I’m not using the little printer paper I get to print out things.

Just started and I was so confused when my school told me about PBIS. The students in my school literally said they don’t care and will cut school (1)

It doesn’t work if admin doesn’t back you up and not implemented correctly which happens 99% of the time
