So my dermatologist said it’s definitely perioral dermatitis and has prescribed 6-8 weeks of Doxycycline which is an antibiotic, but at a low dose is actually really good at fighting inflammation. He said it should clear up in about 2 weeks, but to stick through the full course to ensure it doesn’t come back. He said it makes your skin really sensitive to the sun so to always wear sunscreen every day. I’ve bought some good quality probiotics to take after the course (the pharmacy person said there’s no point in taking them during the course as the antibiotics will kill a lot of the probiotics). The derm said you can use topical creams etc but they take way longer and aren’t always as effective.
