Setelah situasi di Makkah mereda, Utsman dan Ruqayyah kembali ke Makkah. Namun, tekanan Quraisy kembali meningkat hingga akhirnya mereka hijrah ke Madinah bersama kaum Muslimin lainnya. Rasulullah ﷺ memiliki hubungan yang sangat dekat dengan Utsman. Karena Menikahi dua putri Rasulullah: Utsman menikahi Ruqayyah binti Muhammad. Setelah Ruqayyah wafat, ia menikahi Ummu Kultsum binti Muhammad. Karena itu, Utsman mendapat gelar Dzun Nurain (pemilik dua cahaya). Ia terkenal karena sifat Kedermawanannya yang luar biasa. Utsman menyumbangkan hartanya untuk Islam, termasuk dalam pembelian sumur Ruma untuk kaum Muslimin dan pembiayaan pasukan dalam Perang Tabuk.
