One sonos amp (max 2 passive speaker pairs per amp) is $700. A large install gets pricy quick.

I have asimilar setup! I’m using raspberry pi’s running picoreplayer instead of echo dots. Used Echos are probably way cheaper though. Nice setup!

so, the echo dot has a dog shit DAC, but if you can find some Chrome cast music's (not the regular chrome cast, the ones that can only do sound)....
