@ashleyjames: Why do I support the teachers striking? Because, like them, I care deeply about the future of education. We all should. #fyp #teacherstrike #teachersstrike #teachersstriking

What they haven’t mentioned is the barristers wanted to strike and the government gave them a 15% pay rise. So, why is it different now?

Strikers are not the problem. After 13 years of Tory austerity, Britain is broken. Cost of living crisis was the last straw for the workers.

It comes down to "is teaching an attractive career prospect". No. So you have to ask why. If it was a good job, people wouldn't be leaving in droves.

If teaching was well paid in comparison to responsibility, there wouldn't be a recruitment crisis. End of argument.

DENNIS SEVERS HOUSE📍18 Folgate Street, Spitalfields How this house came to be is thanks to Dennis Severs who was an eccentric Southern Californian who adored British history. He came to Spitalfields in 1979 and bought a derelict house at 18 Folgate Street. In 1980 it opened for visitors to discover his eccentric labour of love. The house is reconfigured with immaculate detail to tell the story of an imaginary Huguenot silk merchant family who had lived there since it was built in 1724.   The man himself would often give the tours and told stories of the (fictional) Jervis family he claimed once lived here. A visit here is one of the more unusual things to do in East London. Every opportunity should be taken to visit this one-of-a-kind home.  Set aside at least 45 minutes and maybe even 1 1/2hours if you truly wish to savour all the details. David Hockney once described the house as one of the world’s five great experiences. SILENT VISIT £16 Saturday & Sunday Afternoons 12pm-4pm An unguided tour through the house without speaking and explored at your own pace.   RELAXED VIEWING £16 Friday afternoons 12pm-4pm A more informal visit than the “Silent Tours”, with talking allowed    SILENT NIGHT £25 Friday Evenings 5pm-9pm A silent visit illuminated by the splendour of candlelight between twilight and the evening hours. DENNIS SEVERS TOUR £75 Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings This would be the most unforgettable experience hosted by an actor leading a small number of guests reinventing the famous evocative tours that Dennis gave when first opening the house. . . . . . #dennissevers #dennissevershouse #spitalfields #londonmuseum #londonitinerary #visitlondon #explorelondon #eastlondon #uniqueplaces #History #secretlondon For a full review: https://www.flolondon.co.uk/all-posts/dennis-severs-house-review
