@lindaznachko: When I first saw Abigail, she was only named, “baby up for adoption.” She was wearing a diaper and covered with a hospital blanket. Like every mother, the first thing I did was look at my baby, I needed to see her naked soft skin. She was perfect. On the outside. My second visit with her meant she would be provided with a proper baby wardrobe. Something practical and something fancy. All pink & white of course! Her final hurrah was her handmade gown made from a wedding dress. It was perfect, extravagant and made her look like a princess. She even had jewelry, a pearl bracelet with an angel on it. Giving Abigail dignity and honor was my mother’s right. I felt every inch of her little premie body and I smelled her as I kissed her. 24 hours with my daughter wasn’t long enough but it was a gift. A scared gift of gold. I miss her, and I wouldn’t trade the heartache of losing her for anything. A little life lived loved is always a treasure.
