Dearest Gentle Traveler... When the author of Bridgerton not only comments on our post but *also* reveals herself as a resident of this great state, we just had announce our bridge work like this.   As Lady Slowdown shared, we’ve got two big bridge projects happening around the Kitsap Peninsula for the next several days.   First, the aging westbound SR 16 Tacoma Narrows Bridge to Gig Harbor: Our beloved Boomer was born in 1950 and needs some joint work, and we simply can’t avoid commuter hours this time around. Plan for double westbound lane closures starting 8 a.m. Friday until 10 p.m. Saturday. We’d do all the repairs over the weekend if we could. Unfortunately, we’re on a tight schedule with the few folks who can do the work under the bridge deck, hundreds of feet above the water line. Expect major backups during the Friday afternoon commute.   Meanwhile, our one-of-a-kind SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge needs repairs before storm season comes. These tracks used to roll the drawspans back and forth often take a beating, and they are pretty banged up. The bridge will close to all travel for five consecutive nights from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day, Sept. 21-25. Plan your trips around the closures or face a 3-hour detour around the Hood Canal.   Remember! Forewarned is ever forearmed. Video description: a screenshot of a comment left by Bridgerton author Julia Quinn on a WSDOT post. The video then announces to bridge projects in the style of a Lady Whistledown society paper. The video cuts back-and-forth between images of both bridges, screenshots of the impacted area, and a Society Paper written by Lady Slowdown. #wsdot #Washington #TacomaNarrowsBridge #Tacoma #HoodCanal
