@painacademy: Core stability is a term used to describe the ability of our core muscles to maintain control and balance of the upper body during movement. The core muscles, including the abs, lower back, and hips, work together to support the spine and pelvis. Having a strong and stable core is essential for optimal movement patterns. A strong core: 1. Improves movement. 2. Contributes to better posture. 3. Enhances athletic performance. 4. Reduces the risk of injury. 5. Transfers force and power to the arms and legs, which is crucial for running or lifting weights. If the core isn’t strong… 1. Movement can feel ‘off.’ 2. Without a strong and stable core, movement can feel limited or restricted due to the core's inability to transfer force and power well. 3. The risk of injury goes up. 4. Athletic performance decreases. 5. There is a general disconnection between how the legs and arms move and work together, which can be a breeding ground for muscle imbalance to arise. Don’t underestimate the power of a simple exercise like this. If it’s easy, great! I love that for you. Stay tuned as I upload some more challenging core exercises in the next two weeks. If this exercise was challenging, that’s a strong sign that you could use more core stability. If this exercise was painful, then chances are muscle imbalance, compensation, or dysfunction are showing up, affecting your ability for your hips to move and your core's ability to stabilize you. Check out the link in my bio to learn more about how my online movement program can help you restore muscle balance and function.
