Some are superior. I've broken a lot of sockets and wrenches. Good sockets don't usually crack and split down the middle. Same thing with wrenches.

astro tools 78314 makes a set for like $40 3/8 drive also available in 1/2 drive on amazon. hear Matco uses alot of astro designs

The ones you were talking about at first with the hex. You should get Astro nano sockets off Amazon. They are pretty cheap and they are great sockets.

30 yrs exp here and there is a difference in quality. I started with craftsman and replaced the frequently broken sockets with the good stuff.
