If it’s PYREX it’s made of borosilicate. Can handle the heat. If it’s pyrex (lower caps) it’s soda lime and can’t take the heat.

for everyone who doesn't know how to tell the difference. PYREX 👍 pyrex 👎. Its crazy they can get away with the brand name difference.

That’s happened to me but only because I took it out of oven and my burner was still on. It definitely can’t cook on stovetop. 😳😂

My bet is that you were using pyrex instead of PYREX. And, yes; it does matter if the logo is all lowercase or all uppercase.
