@nurseinthemakingkristine: Transmission-based precautions are a set of standards used for different infectious disases. These are so important to know! Each precaution has different equipment used and different patients the precaution is used for. Transmission-based precautions are: – Standard or "Universal"– General infection control to protect yourself and others from spread of germs – Contact – Precautions taken to protect from infection mostly spread by touch. (contact) – Droplet – Precautions taken to prevent infection spread by sneezing, coughing, or talking. (anything that can spread with drops) – Airborne – Precautions taken to protect against infection spread through particles which can stay in the air and travel – Protective/reverse isolation – This isolation type is used to protect patients with weak immune systems from germs #nursingnotes #thecompeltenursingschoolbundle #nursingschool #nurseinthemaking #nursingstudent #isolationprecautions #healthcare
