And it’s surprising to me how many people heel strike, even when sprinting. When we run, we want to land on our forefoot so that our calf and hamstring muscles can absorb the force. When we land on our heels, that force is absorbed by bones and joints, and can cause pulling on the periosteum of our shin bones (shin splints). Land on your forefoot to achieve better flow with your running! Take your time and keep the speed and distances low if you are just starting out.
