There needs to be a risk vs reward thing here. Which is more likely to suffocate the baby. A cat sitting on it or a net around the cot.

Child’s safety> cats comfort. You can get a very large dog kennel cage &keep the kitty in there while baby is sleeping until she’s old enough

There’s a type that’s much sturdier made to attach to the crib for when she gets older. We used it bc my brother was an escape artist though 😅
