As a florist we spray our shears at the end of the day with mineral oil based leaf shine. Keeps tools clean and rust free.

I did this and it rusted the tips of my tools. Make sure sand is completely dry before adding oil or it's just sitting in moisture.

My dad did this in the 50s. He learned from his dad. They used motor oil because they didn’t know about the health problems with chemicals.
