18 year-old Axel Rudakubana has been sentenced to a minimum of 52 years behind bars after admitting to the murd3rs of three girls at a dance class in Southport, UK. Rudakubana was told to leave the dock twice during his sentencing, after shouting repeatedly for a paramedic.  A family member shouted “coward” as he left the dock.  The court heard from the families and victims who survived the att*ck. Dance instructor Leanne Lucas, who was stabb3d five times, said: “For Alice, Elsie, Bebe… and the surviving girls, I’m surviving for you.” Rudakubana pleaded guilty to all 16 offences he faced, at the beginning of the trial. Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, di3d following the attack at the Taylor Swift-themed class in The Hart Space on a small business park in the seaside town shortly before midday on July 29. Rudakubana further pleaded guilty to possessing a knif3, which he bought on Amazon, production of a biological tox*n, ric*n, and possession of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing to commit an act of terr*rism. Unrest erupted across the country in the wake of the Southport attack, with mosques and hotels used for asylum seekers among the locations targeted. More than 1,000 arrests linked to disorder across the country have been made since the att*ck, and hundreds have been charged and jailed. The UK’s Home Secretary launched an inquiry following Rudakubana’s guilty pleas, including how he “came to be so dangerous” and why Prevent “failed to identify the terrible risk” he posed to others. #southport #news
