@slowcarfasthome: We took this exact tour 4 years ago to the day. Our minds were blown then and we are again leaving this area in complete awe. The tours here promise you nothing other than taking a boat out into this protected lagoon to whale watch. The lagoon is protected within the Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve UNESCO World Heritage site. Gray whales come to Baja to spend about three months (February to April) enjoying the warm water lagoons along the peninsula’s coast to mate, give birth and raise their young. Before you even leave the dock you’ll see whales spouting, and huge splashes from whales breaching in the distance. Once you’re far enough out in the lagoon, the captain will cut the engine and sometimes the whales will choose to come up to interact with these small boats and the people on them. There is nothing drawing them in to us, and they are not being chased, it’s completely up to them to create this interaction. It’s an unbelievable sight, and a surreal experience—something that takes a moment to process as you’re eye to eye with a gray whale. #fyp #graywhale #bajamexico
