@devonrodriguezart: It was July 2020 when I first started posting on TikTok. I didn’t really know how to edit videos, or how to make good content but I knew the power of the app and I was going to figure this out one way or another. I experimented with so many different kind of art videos but they’d all get 500-1000 views. I was frustrated, but I was still making art everyday in the corner of my grandma’s living room in the South Bronx. I felt bad because I thought that I was a good artist but I still couldn’t afford to live on my own. Then I remembered how I used to draw people on the subway and sometimes give it them if I thought it looked good. So I thought, hey why not try that on TikTok. First subway drawing video, 5 million views, and 100K followers. That was in one day. I knew I had struck gold. The rest was history. And the whole time that I was posting TikTok’s I had people tell me “stop posting your art on TikTok, that app is so cringe”, or “you really think an app full of children will help your art career, c’mon get real”, or “galleries won’t take a TikToker artist serious.” But, I came from nothing, and I grew up fearless. I had no fear of judgement, no fear of people watching me try so hard to make it on TikTok and flopping so many times. Now those same people brag about knowing me. And since then my entire life changed. I get to make a living doing what I love and I’ve had the most beautiful experiences on this journey. I mean, President Joe Biden invited me to meet him and make a TikTok video together! So my message to you is to be fearless, always do what you feel is right, you truly have nothing to lose, just make jt happen!! THANK YOU FOR 30,000,000 TIKTOK FOLLOWERS!!!!!!!! 🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳❤️🔥🥳
