@yazanx._.963: Our solar system is moving with an average velocity of 514495 miles per hour (828,000 kilometers per hour). But even at this speed, it takes about 230 million years for the sun tank our make one complete trip around the Milky Way. #universe #space #starwalk

Hi! I've been thinking about a hypothesis and I'd really like your opinion as a scientist. What if the rocky planets in our Solar System represent different stages in the life cycle of an Earth-like planet rather than completely separate evolutionary histories? For example, what if Mercury and Venus were once habitable worlds billions of years ago, but as the Sun aged and became brighter, they lost their atmospheres and oceans and became the worlds we see today? Earth would represent the current habitable stage, while Mars and perhaps even more distant worlds could represent future habitable stages as the Sun's habitable zone gradually moves outward. In other words, instead of seeing the planets as independent, could they be viewed as a timeline—Mercury and Venus as the "past," Earth as the "present," and Mars and beyond as the "future"? I know current scientific evidence may not support this idea, but I'm curious whether it's physically possible in principle. What observations or evidence would rule out such a hypothesis? I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

How come satelites stay in place, if it's true they should have left beacuse of the movement?

then the sun must be a greater gravitational force acting on it pulling it and it has to be rotating something with a great centripetal force 😳

The Sun spins due to the conservation of angular momentum from the rotating gas and dust cloud that formed it. As this material collapsed under gravity, it spun faster—similar to how ice skaters accelerate when pulling their arms in. The Sun’s gaseous composition also causes differential rotation, meaning different latitudes spin at varying speeds: the equator completes a rotation in about 24.47 days, while higher latitudes take longer (e.g., 33 days at 75° latitude). This contrasts with solid bodies like Earth, which rotate uniformly. Key points: • The Sun’s spin direction aligns with Earth’s and other solar system bodies, inherited from the original cloud’s rotation. • Scientists track bright polar features called faculae to measure slower polar rotation rates (~8.6 days per pole). Would you like to explore how the Sun’s rotation influences space weather or solar cycles? 😊
