I also recommended Italo for the high speed trains! For regional trains you can book same day since the price doesn’t go up.

One small thing about the Trenitalia app for the older generations: they have scammers pay for advertising that uses words like “START HERE”

Use the TrenItalia app from the App Store and you will be set. That’s what we used on our trip to Italy. Never had a problem!
