Alexander ball :
this isn't how DID works. switches only happen when one is experiencing an extremely triggering event as a way to protect their mind from said event.

Hi guys! Medically recognized system here, soft switches are a thing, and doesn’t always need to be a traumatic or stressful experience for an alter to front.

System here. No, traumatic experiences are not required for switching. There a neutral, positive, and negative switching, and they don't have to include trauma. Example of positive switching; Someone's favorite song playing Example of neutral switching; Just whatever reason Example of negative switching; Triggered trauma, traumatic event

For those who are hating about that this isn’t how switching works — switching for someone with DID or OSDD isn’t always caused by something traumatic happening in the moment. While trauma in the past is what led to the disorder developing, day-to-day switches can happen for many reasons. Sometimes it’s stress-related, but it can also be triggered by certain emotions, environments, memories, sensory input, or even just randomly without any obvious cause. It’s kind of like how your mood or mindset can shift suddenly — for someone with DID/OSDD, that shift can involve a different alter taking the front, and it doesn’t need a dramatic or “movie-like” event to happen.
