It depends when the house was built and when the lines were drawn. My neighbor at my first house had a garage right on the line.

In PA, we didn’t have official building codes until 1968. You could actually build your home on the property line

they don't normally permit a house like that anymore but most areas us to permit even closer. my house 1950 is 1ft from deed line

your not to supposed to build within 10ft of a property line I'd say the houses were built by families that were related then sold the land separate
