@dejashu: Everything I ate in Japan day eight 🇯🇵 Two more days of these food diaries in Japan starting with doughnuts for breakfast from Mister Donut. The chocolate ganache doughnut was pillowy, light and came with little cubes of dark chocolate ganache with chocolate powder sprinkled over. This was SO good with my coffee! The creamy shrimp pastry however… was far too sweet and the dairy clumped together. Lunch was an ikura smoked salmon ekiben on the Shinkansen before I hurtled back to Tokyo (after a whole day of smooooth efficient train travel) This was actually the eve of Lunar New Year so I went to get Chinese food to mark the occasion. This was a very last minute booking and managed to nab a seat at “絶品小籠包 満月廬 新宿離宮” in Shinjuku. I saw xiaolongbao in the restaurant name and was enamoured… it had been nearly 2 weeks without dumplings. I ordered soup dumplings (had a lot of soup, beautiful presentation and was pretty tasty), Peking Duck (biggest disappointment), jellyfish (love), pea shoots with garlic (the star of the show), Dan Dan noodles (had a mild kick and would’ve liked a thicker consistency in the sauce but tasty), boiled dumplings (wrapper was far too thick and doughy), and soft shell tempura.
