@katarina.etiquette: The art of gifting can be a tricky topic 🎁 In most countries, it is a good idea to open a gift in front of the giver to show appreciation and gratitude. Often times, the giver can also share a background story behind the gift. However, I recommend to always check the cultural customs of gift giving in every country, as in some, opening a gift in public might be perceived too materialistic 😉 #etiquette #etiqueta #etiquettetips #etiquetterules #tablemanners #manners #elegance #elegantlady #giftetiquette #giftreceiving #gift

Katarina| Etiquette & Elegance :
There are situations such as weddings where it is not necessary to open gifts (due to the volume). Same goes for when money is gifted 🎁

I can confirm this as a Malaysian. We need to appreciate the giver more than the gift 😁.

It’s the opposite for me but usually I don’t care and just open because people know I’m just like that

I’d like to add an exception : if it’s money you’re offered it is seen as a sign of greed to open it in front of the person ( from my parents )

In my culture we don’t open gifts if there are multiple people there, like in birthday parties, to not compare gifts in front of the givers:)
