start by taking out spark plug so you dint lose fingers, but turned out well

👍literally do exactly the same thing. Started doing that after builders dumped small rocks in the lawn to avoid a skip. Damaged my blade.

Looks like you did a good job But you do wanna make sure you sharpen evenly and the blade is balanced. If you don’t u cat wreck your lawnmower.

You only sharpen one side of the blade. The same side as when you bought it
