at my hs, the used to have marching horns... but they just bought brand new mellos last year so I never got to play on the horn

Played both MH and MP. Mello is typically. easier to tune, hold, and learn. If you dont have a mellophone the marching horn is a good choice.

I have to play one for marching band this year. I am definitely not loving it lol. Do you have any suggestions and or advice on how to better play in the higher range? They are fairly new to my band (just started last season) and my band director is having us play some very high parts. I’m having lots of issues with the higher range and it seems no matter how much air and support I use it’s still very finicky.

I play french horn and I accidentally bought a Marching French horn instead of a Mellophone for 8th grade marching band. Will it be too difficult? I've heard they're harder than Mellophones from alot of people.

My band has adapters for our mellophones so we can use the same mouth piece as our French horns :)

What I’m hearing is to have low F horn players use marching horn and high horn players use mellophones.
