okay wait, this place in st. clair shores is actually so solid. Yesterday we went to Hook on Jefferson right on Lake St. Clair for Restaurant Week. For the starter you could pick between clam chowder or a Caesar salad, and we ended up trying both. Both were genuinely phenomenal. The clam chowder was rich without being too heavy, and the Caesar was one of those simple salads done really well. I’d honestly come back for just those alone. I also got a prosecco colada, which is basically a lighter, more refreshing piña colada with prosecco, and it was really good. For entrées, the options were a filet, fish & chips, or coconut chicken. I got the 6 oz filet with redskin mashed potatoes, wild mushrooms, and bordelaise. I ordered it medium rare and it definitely leaned more medium, but not enough to ruin it. The cut itself had a slightly looser grain and more visible muscle fibers than a true center-cut filet, but overall it was still enjoyable. I also tried the fish & chips, which was beer-battered haddock, and that ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. Super crispy, flaky fish and the salt & vinegar fries were honestly addicting. For dessert we tried the cheesecake and the key lime chiffon. The cheesecake was solid, classic, good cheesecake. The key lime was a little too tart for me personally, but if you really love citrus desserts you’d probably enjoy it more than I did. Overall, I’d definitely come back. The views are beautiful and I already know this place is going to be even better once patio season fully hits. #michiganfoodie #stclairshores #detroitfood #lakestclair
