Bad advice why is below please don’t listen to everyone with a mic: Such bad advice. I get the intention behind this, but this kind of advice can be really unhealthy in practice. There’s a difference between expressing feelings and giving someone an ultimatum. Saying “I like you and might need space if you date someone else” is a boundary. Saying “if you date someone else, I won’t be your friend” puts pressure on the other person to either return your feelings or lose the friendship. That turns a vulnerable moment into something conditional, where the other person feels responsible for managing your emotions. You can’t control how someone feels about you, and they shouldn’t feel like their dating choices come with consequences like losing a friend. It’s okay to have feelings and even to step back if it’s too hard but framing it as a choice they have to make isn’t healthy.
