@jordankglean: Solar panels and batteries are inseparable in the minds of many. However, the vast majority of solar panel systems in Canada are grid-tied, meaning that they are installed without batteries. These systems allow homeowners to use solar power when it’s available, export excess solar power to the grid for credit and draw power from the grid when needed. The grid acts like a battery! A grid-tied solar system without batteries is an excellent choice for homeowners who want to take advantage of solar power without the added expense and maintenance of battery storage. With lower costs, greater flexibility, and increased efficiency, a grid-tied solar system can be a smart investment for homeowners who want to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on energy costs. #gleansolar #greenscreen

when you have surplus solar then everybody has surplus solar then market price is way down and you dont earn any credit. 10kwh battery is only 3k.

Thank you, finally someone was succinctly told everything I needed to know about battery vs non-battery for a solar system.

Would being in an area prone to grid outages be a reason to consider battery, or is the system still able to work during those times?

You do need batteries during power cuts. Exports credit is lower than import unit charge
