@allisonmathisjones: We have some friends and family visiting us this month, and whenever people travel to Japan for the first time, I like to let them know these 3 guidelines to follow: 1) Tattoos should be covered when visiting places like gyms and onsens in Japan 2) People don’t tip here. If you try to give gratuity, they likely won’t accept it 3) Showing courtesy to others is huge in Japan.
