Four years ago, I reached a point where I knew I needed a completely new life. Germany was home, but at that time I felt like I couldn’t keep living the same way anymore. I needed a place where I could figure out who I was without constantly feeling stuck in the version of myself everyone already knew. 🫤 America became that chance. I came here as a German trans girl with no idea what would happen next. I was excited, scared, insecure, curious… probably all at once. 😳 And a lot happened in those four years. I met people who made me feel accepted, and others who made me question myself again. I experienced freedom, loneliness, rejection, love, confidence, doubt and moments where I genuinely had no idea what I was doing. But every experience changed me. I learned that starting over doesn’t magically fix everything. You still bring your fears with you. But sometimes a new environment gives you enough space to finally grow into yourself. Maybe that’s also why psychology became so important to me. I’ve spent years trying to understand myself, other people, identity, emotions, relationships and why we treat each other the way we do. And now, after all the good moments, the difficult ones, the mistakes and the growth… I’m starting my master’s in psychology.
