It’s strange how something can be worth absolutely everything to you the moment you lose it… And almost nothing while you have it. Ask someone struggling to breathe what a normal breath is worth. Ask someone in hospital what waking up healthy is worth. Ask someone who just buried their mother what one more conversation with her is worth. Suddenly the things we call “normal” don’t feel very normal anymore. We’ve become so conditioned to look at what’s missing from our lives that we barely acknowledge what Allah gives us every single day. You woke up today. Your heart was beating. You could see. You could move. There was food available to you. There are people whose names you can still call and they’ll answer. None of this was guaranteed. Yet somehow we can have all of that and allow one thing we don’t have to convince us that life isn’t good. Allah says:

Allah says: "If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more." *(Qur’an 14:7)* Gratitude isn’t pretending you don’t have problems. It’s refusing to allow your problems to make you blind to your blessings. Because eventually some of the ordinary things you barely notice today will disappear. And you’ll realise they were never ordinary. They were gifts. Alhamdulillah for everything we notice. And Alhamdulillah for everything Allah gives us that we’re still too distracted to see.
