Crispy Chicken Bao Buns This is 30 days of family dinners on a budget and these Crispy Chicken Bao Buns are proof that it is possible to create delicious home cooked food on a modest budget without sacrificing on quality… or enjoyment! My family hovers in the kitchen when I make these, the chicken is coated in a simple marinade before being coated in flour and then cooked until golden. The bao buns are found in the freezer of the supermarket, I get them at half price, look out for specials! You can steam them in the microwave, but I find a steamer basket easier- This one is from @Kmart Australia and I use it all the time for steamed veggies, making noodles or dumplings and even steaming rice. I’ve linked it in the recipe for you, $19 well spent! These are such a fun Friday night dinner. I love that the kids can load up on their favourite salads, sriracha mayo finishes it off (plain mayo for kiddies) all while I’m wearing my slippers! Save this one for when you next need a fun dinner idea! Ingredients 16 bao buns, steamed as per packet instructions 2 tbsp tamari or all-purpose soy sauce, plus extra to serve 1 tsp garlic, freshly minced 2 eggs, whisked 500g chicken thigh fillets, cut into strips 1.5 cups plain flour 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper Oil for frying 1 cup carrot, julienned or shredded 2 cucumbers, cut into batons 1/2 bunch coriander, leaves picked 1/2 cup sriracha mayonnaise (or regular mayonnaise for littles) 2 red chillies, sliced to serve (optional) #crispychicken #chicken #baobuns #fridaynight #familydinner #foodforkids #onabudget #homecooked #DinnerIdeas #dinnerinspo #Recipe #EasyRecipe
