i’ve had 14 gastroscopes and will be having 3 more to replace my feeding tube, i do them awake and they aren’t to bad, just slow deep breaths 🥰

Sedation all the way if you aren’t allergic or sensitive to anesthetic… I’ve had both and it’s nuts that spray is even an option..

i had this done last year, very very glad I had the sedation! It's not painful but very uncomfortable and felt a bit scary.

the mortality rate is always present with any procedure. most people having an endoscopy have some problem so if let's say they are really unwell...

Sedation for sure! They gave me an ativan but it didn't help. The procedure was short but I gagged the whole time and hated it.

I just had the throat spray yesterday. It wasn’t pleasant but definitely bare able and it only took 5 mins. Good luck

I had an endoscopy at age 19 didn't get sedation as I was inpatient 😂 I had throat spray it made me feel like I couldn't breathe but I could 😂 it -

It’s a horrendous procedure. You feel like you can’t breathe and also want to gag but you have to relax and stay calm and try not gag.

iv had 3 of these 😁 they are not great but over fast and I would definitely recommend the sedation and throat spray, good luck

Above all make sure you have sedation! I’ve had 2 gastroscopy tests and you definitely need it

my sons had similar an endoscopy a few through his life and as a child was always given GA untill his last one after his surgery which he at just 15

I’ve had a few, I had one without sedation and will say have as much sedation as you can. And have trapped wind relief ready for afterwards

I didn’t have sedation and was fine! It was the choice of being able to leave straight after with no sedation, or having to stay till the sedation 1/2

We have to tell patients tooth extraction can lead to death….. 🤦🏻♀️🙄 …. It’s sadly the way of healthcare these days.
