@higherupwellness: I have posted this before but it is so important it deserves a second post. An easy to follow morning routine to set your day up for success. Routine in detail below: Within 5-10 minutes of waking, have 32 ounces of water with a pinch of salt. We become dehydrated in our sleep, so we need fluid with electrolytes to boost blood volume and energy levels, as well as give our brains the electrolyte needed for neurons to properly fire, helping us think more clearly. Within 15-20 minutes of waking, take a 10-15 minute walk in the sun to expose your eyes to the sun. If you cant walk for whatever reason, just get out in the morning sun. The frequency of light emitted by the sunrise will boost your cortisol, resulting in feelings of wakefulness and alertness . It will also tell our bodies to release melatonin at the right time that evening, 12-14 hours later. 45-60 minutes after waking, get cold by way of shower or cold plunge for 1-3 minutes. If you do not have cold plunge access, turn your shower all the way to cold. This can boost dopamine by up to 250%, leaving you with an acute sense of well being and “feel good” chemicals surging through your body. 60-90 minutes after waking, have your morning caffeine. This serves a couple of purposes. Doing this will allow your body to naturally raise cortisol levels as it is supposed to without the acute cortisol spike caffeine provides. This will prevent your mid-afternoon crash that requires that 3rd cup of coffee.
