The Moriarty actually knows about Ron's existence since he was a child (ch146). But Totomaru said that Ron's existence was hidden from the Moriarty. I believe that's what he believed in. I have a theory. Ron's mother is known as someone who always travels, and from the flashback of Ron, we can see that Romi is not always there. Another proof is that Romi learned Eliot's death. Ron also mentioned that he doesn't have any memories of his parents together (ch150). So here's my theory: Eliot and Romi doesn't live together, and Ron lived under his father, which is the Moriarty. That's why the Moriarty knows about Ron's existence. However they didn't know that Ron has a Holmes blood at that time (Mylo's father only mentioned that Ron is a son of Eliot, a rival to the inheritance). After Eliot's death, that's where Ron came to Romi's life. She seems to not know how to raise a child seeing how everyone talks about her and her approach in raising Ron, so I think my theory about Eliot raising Ron since infancy make sense. That's also where the Moriarty got to know about Ron's blood about the Holmes. I feel like Ron ran away from the Moriarty after his father's death until to his mother, that's where he then lost his childhood memories.
