A husband and wife possess equal worth before God, while Scripture still gives the husband a particular responsibility within the marriage. “For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.” — Ephesians 5:23 NKJV Headship is not permission for selfishness, domination, or tyranny. Scripture immediately commands the husband toward sacrificial love. But neither can we erase headship because authority makes modern sensibilities uncomfortable. You cannot give two people the final word and call that order. Somebody will ultimately yield.
