@theafish1: Survival Fly is a term often used for swimmers 🏊♂️ who are just trying to GET THROUGH the race. You’ll see 👀 a lot of this style of Butterfly stroke during hard IM sets, endurance-based Butterfly Sets, and the 200 Fly race itself. Technically, there isn’t anything super wrong with Survival Stroke besides there is a pause between each consecutive stroke(s). This pause allows for a brief ‘rest’, so the arms and legs start and stop as you swim down the pool. You never want the legs to stop as they are the beat 🎵 of the entire Butterfly stroke and without a kick —> your arms won’t pull through a good stroke cycle. Summary: This pause will slow you down. Everyone is faster taking stroke after stroke after stroke - but you HAVE to train Butterfly that way. Need some help with your Butterfly?
