It seems to be a spark issue. It would’ve fired right up for a moment with the starting fluid

No spark. Clean the points and check again. Make sure you have 12 volts going to the coil as well. Should fire off without a problem on starting fluid

Use unlit propane torch instead of starting fluid, works better and way nicer to the engine

Looks like the original coil went bad and they put an external one. If there’s no spark I’d check the magnets, armature and points

Points are either bad or corroded clean them or replace them and it’ll fire right up

check points they could be dirty or need replaced and clean them and take the spark plug out and see if it's sparking
