Nah. They make pull down murphy bed/couch or desk combos that can accommodate a normal mattress these days. Much more comfortable and functional.

how is this saving space? in order to make this work you still need to keep that much empty space in the room so might as well keep a regular bed

As someone who has actually slept on this, it is VERY uncomfortable. Had to add a 2-3" foam mattress to help me sleep. Looks pretty, but sucks.
