I wish people wouldn’t touch or lift starfish out of the water. They breathe through tiny pores and skin gills, so taking them out even briefly can trap air in their system and damage their tissues. Oils, sunscreen, and bacteria from our hands also strip their protective layer and can cause infection or stress-related death. 🌊💙
