@thebarefootsprinter: There’s a reason all those fancy “posture” exercises never work… They’re not opening your shoulders up in the right direction. Whenever we get into shoulder pain, the first thing we do is tense up. And this leads to “bad posture”. It doesn’t matter whether the posture or the pain came first, the result in the same… You move poorly, lose strength, and end up hurting. Plus it’s not attractive either! The solution is still “strengthen and lengthen”, but it needs to be in the opposite direction of the problem. That’s where these loaded distraction exercises come into play. I love Mark Bell’s Shake Straps for this, but a band works just as well. Let the weight pull you away to create space and strengthen the connective tissue. It’s like magic. Do 1-2 minutes each side here and explore lots of angles. You’ll feel amazing. And if you want more help on this, I have a full program that will fix your upper body.
