my partner shuts down every time we have an argument. it can take days until he feels calm enough or until he’s understood his feelings properly. sometimes it feels unfair to always wait on him

What if it’s a continuous avoidance? I feel as if I’m talking to a wall. The harder I push for him to communicate, the more upset and withdrawn he gets. But if I remain stoic it is pushed under 1/2

My partner does this constantly and I end up being the person that made the situation worse because I'm actually telling him how I feel inside. He ends up shutting down & continues for days.
