Through my friend Nikos, who is an organic olive farmer, I learned a lot about agriculture. It turns out - that at least in Greece - many farmers use more pesticides than legally allowed, or even the kinds that are no longer permissible. All of this not only ends up in nature but also in the produce that we consume. Yes, pesticides are used to ensure food security - but what’s the total cost of that?
